Molly Callahan, M.A.

Licensed Mental Health Counselor,
Contracted

Molly graduated in 2016 from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, with a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a focus in play therapy for children.

Molly began her counseling career working as a Child and Family Therapist at a local community mental health agency, where she was able to help children, adolescents, and caregivers who were struggling with an array of social, emotional, and behavioral issues. At this agency, Molly gained valuable experience working on a specialized team which focused on helping children and teenagers who experienced sexual abuse and other complex traumas. During this time, Molly also co-created a therapeutic preschool program aimed to address children’s complex emotional needs within the classroom setting. Molly is certified as a Developmental Disability Mental Health Specialist in the state of Washington.

Molly has experience working with people across the life span, including children ages 3-12, pre-teens and teenagers, and adults in various stages of life.

In her work with children, Molly uses developmentally appropriate modalities, such as play therapy, activity therapy, and expressive arts in order to help clients reduce symptoms, develop coping strategies, and increase positive feelings of self-worth.

Molly is also trained in Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT), which is a parent training modality aimed to enhance and strengthen the parent-child relationship through improved family interactions and problem-solving strategies. CPRT will be offered periodically in a class format; however, individual CPRT can always be requested.

In addition to talk and play therapy, Molly offers EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy. EMDR is a highly effective form of trauma treatment that can help people heal from overwhelming life events that contribute to chronic stress and emotional and physical distress.

When not in the office assisting people in their healing process, Molly enjoys spending time in nature, hiking and cuddling with her dog, photography, traveling, listening to music, and spending quality time with friends and family.
