ROBIN WESTON, M.A.

Contracted Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate

Robin recently graduated from George Fox University with a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. In addition to her education, she brings a wealth of life experience, having spent 20+ years working in the public and private sector workforce. She's been a program manager for Girl Scouts, a humanitarian aid worker in Bosnia, a missionary in Scotland and Japan, a flight attendant and worked in the security consulting field. As a Counselor, Robin worked in private practice in Vancouver, Washington before joining her colleagues at Fircrest.

In each of these jobs, Robin regularly encountered people who felt stuck and trapped in their work and home life. They were surviving but not thriving. Believing that life is meant to be lived with intention and in a way that inspires and brings meaning, Robin changed careers to be a part of helping others untangle what’s tangled and unstick what’s stuck so they can experience a truly fulfilling and joy-filled life. After all, problems are merely possibilities that are yet to be understood!

Robin enjoys working with children 4-11 years old, as well as adults. She focuses primarily on issues related to attachment using a story-informed trauma therapy approach. In addition to talk therapy, she uses play therapy, sandtray, music, and art to explore and process difficult experiences in your story. She loves using nature to find meaning and is passionate about leading creative group therapy sessions on just about anything!

When she isn’t working, Robin enjoys skiing, camping, hiking, knitting, making things, reading, being mischevious or pondering her next adventure.  If you can't find her, there is a good chance she is looking for a rogue gnome from her collection who has decided to go on a spontaneous walkabout.

Individual Counseling

Individual Counseling is where people come to solve problems, grow, and change their lives in the direction that they think is best for them and their families. Robin specializes in Story Informed Trauma Therapy which enables her to help clients find the source of their distress.

Group Therapy

Group Therapy

Group therapy involves one or more therapist who lead a group of five to 15 patients. Some people attend individual therapy in addition to groups, while others participate in groups only. Depending on the nature of what you are wanting to work on, group therapy can be an ideal choice for positive change in your life.

Play Therapy

Play therapy is an approach to counseling that was originally designed for use with children, and has shown to be beneficial for adolescents and adults as well. The basic principle of play therapy is that, due to development and minimal life experience, children are better able to express the things on their minds through the context of play. Adolescents and adults find it helpful as well because traumatic life experiences can make finding words to express their thoughts and feelings difficult. Learn more about Play Therapy.
